St. Rita School Cake Walk

the St. Rita School Council is hosting a Cake Walk

and we need your help!

Event Date:  Thursday, April 14th

What is a Cake Walk?

On the day of the event, the children will walk through a display of lovely treats placing their ticket(s) in the tin(s) of their favourite(s).  At the end of the cake walk, a ticket for each treat will be drawn and the winning children will be notified.  NOTE: Parents of the winners will also be advised if the treat is too difficult or large for the child to take home on their own. We would ask the parents/guardian to make arrangements to pick it up by 4:30 that afternoon at the school.

Two ways you can help:

  1. Donate baked goods

Families are asked to donate a baked good, homemade or purchased for this raffle.

·       The items should be labeled with ingredients or labeled as peanut free or gluten free (if applicable).

·       Items could be squares, cupcakes, cookies.

·       Items should be divided into smaller portions, i.e., small cakes, 6 cupcakes, or 12 cookies to allow for more winners.

·       Please remember children will need to transport items home, so well-packaged items are appreciated.

NOTE: Small fun cakes and cupcakes would be great since it is a cake walk!

Donated treats can be dropped off at the Gym that morning,

Thursday, April 14th, between 7:30-8:45am.

  1. Volunteer at the Cake Walk

Volunteers are needed the day of the cake walk to help with displaying the treats, helping the children walk through the display and place tickets in tins, and help with the distribution of cakes to winners.  The event typically lasts all day, with distribution starting around lunchtime.  Any time you can spare on April 14th would be greatly appreciated.

Please email Nicky Dove-Abarca at if you are able to provide a treat donation or volunteer.  Please specify your availability on April 14th for those able to volunteer. Your reply would be appreciated by Sunday, April 10th.

Please note the Ticket Process

Attached are 2 sheets of raffle tickets 1 sheet =8 tickets = $2.00.  Please completethe ticket information at home with your child, cut into individual tickets andreturn to their teacher in a Ziplocwith the money included (deadline Wednesday, April 13th).  If you require more tickets you can print acopy off the school website, photocopy your sheet or ask your child’s teacher.  The teachers will hold on to the tickets forthe child and return the Ziploc on the day of the raffle. Please note thatchildren will not “win” more than once in order to ensure fairness.

Thank you again for all your support,

Sincerely St. Rita School Council
